Feature: Lyons’ Economy a Year After the Floods (KGNU)
LEDE: Last year’s floods caused havoc across Boulder County. But maybe more than anywhere else, the disaster’s economic toll was sharply apparent in the town of Lyons, in the foothills north of Boulder. Floodwaters forced a town-wide evacuation, while damaged roads and infrastructure kept businesses shuttered for weeks and, in some cases, months.
KGNU reporter John K. Wilson visited Lyons recently to talk to business owners and local officials about how the town’s economy is doing one year later.
